Why We're Private Pay — and Why That's a Good Thing
At Align Counseling, we don't bill insurance. That's a choice we made on purpose — and most of our clients say it's one of the things they appreciate most.
Here's what it means for you:
No diagnosis required. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis before they'll pay for therapy. We don't. You can get the help you need without a label attached to your name.
Your records stay private. When insurance is involved, your sessions, your diagnosis, and your treatment plan become part of a shared record. With us, what happens in therapy stays between you and your therapist.
No session limits. Insurance plans often cap the number of sessions they'll cover. We go at your pace — not theirs.
Specialists, not whoever's in-network. We focus specifically on couples, relationships, and men's issues. You get a therapist who does this work every day, not a generalist who happens to be covered.
What About Insurance?
We are a fully private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, and we do not provide superbills or documentation for reimbursement purposes. There is no insurance involvement at any stage.
If having insurance coverage for therapy is important to you, we may not be the right fit — and we'd rather be upfront about that now.
What we offer instead is something most insurance panels can't give you: therapists who specialize exclusively in couples and relationships. This isn't a general therapy practice that sees couples on the side. Every clinician on our team was chosen specifically for this work. You get focused expertise, complete privacy, and transparent pricing — with no third party involved in your treatment.
HSA/FSA Payments
Many clients use HSA or FSA funds for eligible therapy. Eligibility depends on your specific plan and the type of service provided. Please check with your HSA/FSA administrator if you have questions.
Payment
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.
